Sodium Vapor is quite a departure from my last album. Two or three of the core songs I sketched out over the last couple of years, but for the most part all the material was written and recorded through 2020 in a fairly brisk fashion. it's a slightly more mindful album than 80 spheres, delving into feelings of time, loss, distance and memory. Yet it has been a joyful experience to create, working with my old friends and former bandmates Michael, Dave and Andy. Connecting with Gary and his horn playing has also been pivotal in shaping the sound, tone and feel of the record.

In many ways, I think that this is the album that I've always wanted to make and I'm thankful that today's technology has enabled us to work together across continents, oceans and time zones. At least the internet is good for something...

Special thanks to Michael McClure for being my constant one-man support network throughout the process, bouncing ideas (and blowing them up) and invaluable help in molding and shaping this musical clay.
